RUWT? NFL Playoffs Challenge – 3 weeks in, one fan stands alone

Monday, January 21st, 2008

Amazingly, after hundreds and hundreds of picks, we’re left with just one fan in the lead with one game to go.

The Leader: 8 wins

RUWT? NFL Playoffs Challenge – 2 weeks in, what rhymes with carnage?

Sunday, January 13th, 2008

I really wish I hadn’t used “carnage” to describe last week—it fits soooo much better for week 2.

Only one Manning advances and it’s Eli? I’m pretty sure if you’re the defending champs and Billy Volek beats you (and that’s without the help of L.T.) you’re relegated to Arena Football. And for the Cowboys? Well…wait…you hear that? That’s the sound of Jessica Simpson’s house being lit on fire.

Anyways, after 2 weeks I’m still stinkin’ it up, but we have eight folks tied for the lead with 6 wins. No one has gotten them all right so the $50 Grand Prize is gone (whew!), but RUWT? shwag and bragging rights galore are still up for grabs.

This didn’t quite make the cut for the headline image for tonight’s Giants vs. Cowboys game, but it was too good not to share.

RUWT? NFL Playoffs Challenge – 1 week in, 9 still perfect

Monday, January 7th, 2008

We’re just four games into our first NFL Playoff Challenge and I’m already batting a measly .500. Way to go Mark. Thankfully there are nine people to show me how it’s done.

We have another batch of four games this weekend so we may see a totally different batch of leaders next Monday. Forget what’s at stake? Get a recap.

Take the RUWT? NFL Playoffs Challenge!

Wednesday, January 2nd, 2008

Fantasy Football may be over, but that doesn’t mean the battle for bragging rights has to be. We’re launching our first WYG? mini-contest: the NFL Playoffs Challenge.

Here’s how it’ll work:

  • Predict the winner of each of the 11 NFL playoff games
  • After the Super Bowl, the 5 users that picked the most correct games will win a RUWT? Sports T-Shirt
  • If one fan gets each of the 11 games right, he or she will win a $50 gift certificate to Amazon.com
  • If multiple fans run the table, up to five will each win a $25 gift certificate to Amazon.com

Be sure to check back here on the blog for updates and standings. What are you waiting for? Get picking!

First Round Games:
Redskins vs. Seahawks
Jaguars vs. Steelers
Giants vs. Buccaneers
Titans vs. Chargers

I’ve been working on some new functionality for the home page redesign. It’s inspired by the iPhone app, and not polished or close to done, but the code will become core to a lot of upcoming enhancements on the site. I’m improving this daily, so feel free to watch.

0. 1. Happy New Year!

Tuesday, January 1st, 2008

Happy New Year everybody. I hope you all had a quality day in front of the TV and are looking forward to the Hawaii vs. Georgia game as much as I am tonight.

Not only is this a National Holiday, but it’s also a RUWT? holiday because it was a year ago today that I flipped the switch on this crazy idea. 12 months, a few thousand users, and a couple radio interviews later and we’re still alive and kicking.

Thanks for coming along for the ride. It’s been a blast so far.
